Performance

April 02, 2011 Eyebeam Art+Technology Center

540 West 21st Street, New York, NY

2:00 PM – 4:00 PM

This performance will be the culminating event for the Sound Art class which I helped lead the discussion to for two of the classes, where all participants of the class are invited to come and share works of sound art they have developed. We will be performing our pieces in an open gallery environment, where sounds will have the opportunity to interact and simultaneously exist in a collaborative exhibition of work. This event is open to the public.

I will be exhibiting two generative sound compositions I am currently working on, heavily relying on chance operations. The first piece is titled Indeterminate Acousmatic Study No. 1, where chance operations define most of the parameters for the sequence and assembly of an acousmatic work, using concrete samples as the primary sound source. The second piece is titled Combined Structure No. 3, and this piece involves the use of serial rows to determine all the parameters of the piece, combined with chance operations which were used to develop the rows, and also are used in reaction to certain parameters within the rows, where some rows indicate a scale of determined to indeterminate settings.
